Meant to say "the chin up" not "the curl" lol...but it's basically a curling/pulling up exercise (a good one, just not directly most transferable as pull ups in my opinion) Functional vs. Transferable vs. non-functional (non-transferable or dangerous). Example: Goal: higher vertical 1 leg jump: Functional: Jumping off one leg, one leg jumps onto benches, one leg step up jumps, etc Transferable: clean & jerks, snatches, squats, deadlifts, hang cleans & hang snatches, etc non-transferable or dangerous: good mornings, sprints (good exercise but not transferable), Non functional: leg curls, leg extensions, leg presses (back against something), etc Are chin ups bad...no. they are in the non transferable section...but they transfer to pullups a bit because they pull you up. but why do two exercises. i'd suggest pick pullups or chin ups. not both unless you want to train in olympics or have lots of time.
