Durains have a bad name for smelling bad...but once you get past the smell, and if you pick the right durian, it's as good if not better then ice cream...but very healthy! 1) First, get this straight: All the Asian Market employee's & Customers know more then you do!!!! But when it comes to Frozen Durians, the bigger the nodes doesn't mean the better tasting the Durian. This is because Frozen Durians once unpacked and put out on display, lose some of their frozenness...then they are refrozen every night till they are bought. So the longer on display, the worse they get. 2) So you go for the most orangest/freshest looking durian REGARDLESS of size. 3) then take it home ASAP. put it in the freezer if your going to wait to eat it till later.
